     Abraham Kissinger was born on 8 November 1770 in Reading, Berks Co., PA, near Rherersburg. He was the son of Abraham Kissinger (RW) and Anna Maria Catharine Schaeffer.

     Abraham Kissinger (RW) was born in November 1740 in Reading, Berks Co., PA. He was the son of Hans Jacob Kissinger and Susanna (?). Abraham Kissinger (RW) married Anna Maria Catharine Schaeffer, daughter of Johann Jacob Schaeffer and Maria Barbara Kobel, on 7 September 1766 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading, Berks Co., PA. He served in the Revolutionary War under Captain Jon Fulmer's Co., Berks County in the Fourth Battalion of Lancaster County Militia. Abraham Kissinger (RW) died on 11 November 1807 in Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin Co., PA.

On the marriage record of Abraham and Mary Catharina, as found in Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading, PA, he is listed as the sixth son of Jacob Kissinger (Kiessinger) and she is listed as the second daughter of Jacob Schaeffer. Jacob Schaeffer was married to Maria Barbara Kobel.

Abraham Kissinger was a carpenter and farmer who first lived in northern Berks County; for example, he was listed as a carpenter in 1767 in the tax list for Maiden Creek Township, Berks County. The Kissinger family, as did many other clans, came into the Lykens Valley, Dauphin County, from the Tulpehocken area of Berks County. The couple spent sometime in Berks County since Abraham is not on the 1790 census for this area. By 1800 he is listed on the census. During the period 1800-1806, they appear as sponsors for grandchildren baptized at both Hoffman's and Klinger's churches.

Anna Maria, daughter of Abraham and Maria Catharina Kissinger, was baptized at the Altalaha Lutheran Church at Rehrersburg, Berks County, on June 11, 1780. By 1789, Abraham and Catherine had moved to the area of the present Klingerstown. They were sponsors at the baptism of Abraham Hoffman at Klinger's Church on October 18, 1789.

Land in what then was Upper Paxton Township , Dauphin County, was granted to Abraham Kissinger on April 3, 1790; he purchased other land in the area from Jacob Kobel on May 6, 1791. Two tracts, both north of the present town of Gratz, were patented to Abraham Kissinger in 1807; one was called "Quadruped." On September 18, 1800, Abraham Kissinger was one of the Building Masters on the Lutheran side for the construction of the frame Klinger's Church. On May 28, 1807, Abraham Kissinger and Mrs. Katharina (sic) Kissinger were confirmed and took communion at Klinger's Church.

Abraham Kissinger died in what was then Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin County (now Lykens Township) - either in November or December 1807. A petition made in Dauphin County Orphans Court on July 25, 1808 stated that Abraham Kissinger had died in November, 1807; however, a deed (Q - 1 - 20) of December 1, 1807 indicated, apparently, that he was living on that day. Also, according to court records he left a widow Catherine and children: George, John, Elizabeth married to Eli Buffington, Susanna married to Jacob Hoffman and Anna Maria, now deceased, who had been married to John Saladay.

Also from court records, you can learn that Abraham Kissinger had 89 acres. This adjoined Robert Ossman, Andrew Ritzman, John Kissinger, and others. This would place his property in the northeast section of the township and explains why Abraham and his wife attended the Zion's or Klinger's church. Very possibly they are buried there with stones now missing.

Abraham Kissinger was living in Tulpehocken, Berks County, during the Revolutionary War. In the capacity of a patriot private, became a member of Captain John Fulmar Company, Penna. Volunteers, Berks County.

He was born circa Nov 1740 at Berks County, PA. He married Anna Maria Catharina Shaffer, daughter of Jacob N. Shaffer and Maria Barbara Kobel, on 7 Sep 1766. He died on 11 Nov 1807 at northern Dauphin County, PA. He and family went to Lykens Valley just before 1800. Abraham was on the Klinger Church building committee in 1800. He and wife Catherine were taken as adult confirmation on Whitsunday, 28-5-1807 at Klinger's Church.

Albert Lawrence Kissinger married Irene Alda Spotts on 15 June 1929 in Reformed Parsonage, Elizabethville, Dauphin Co., PA. He was a farmer and miner.
