     John Jacob Shade (CW) was born on 9 March 1833 in Fearnot, Schuylkill Co., PA. He was the son of John Shade and Hannah Hoffa. John Jacob Shade (CW) married Maria Klinger, daughter of Johann George Klinger Jr. and Catharine Schmeltz, on 14 April 1850 in Dauphin Co., PA, near Gratz, by Rev. Augustus Bergner. John Jacob Shade (CW) and Maria Klinger were divorced on 5 March 1860. He enlisted as a volunteer on 24 February 1864 to serve three years and subscribed the same day. He was examined by C. Tower, Captain & Provost Martial of the 10th District of Penna, James S. Carpentar, Examining Surgeon. He was a private in Co. A, commanded by Samuel K. Schwenk, 50th Regiment of Penna. Inf. Vols, commanded by Col. Benjamin C. Christ. According to his military records he had blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, and was 5' 9" tall. John Jacob Shade (CW) married Justina Carl on 22 April 1862 in Pottsville, Schuylkill Co., PA, by Samuel Chrisman, JP; witnesses were Sam Chrisman and John Hanly. John Jacob Shade (CW) died on 30 September 1864 in Petersburg, VA, at age 31. He was buried after 30 September 1864 in United Church of Christ Cemetery, Sacramento, Schuylkill Co., PA.

He married Anna Maria Klinger, daughter of Johann Alexander Klinger Sr. and Magdalena Haag, circa 1809 in PA. John Jacob S. Shade Sr. married Elizabeth Bitterman after 1854 in PA. John Jacob S. Shade Sr. died on 18 February 1871 in Lykens Township, Dauphin Co., PA, at age 81. He was buried after 18 February 1871 in Simeon United Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gratz, Dauphin Co., PA.

She married Luther Stanley Kessler on 11 February 1924 in PA. Laura Myrtle Shade was buried after 21 August 1975 in Zion (Klinger's) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Erdman, Dauphin Co., PA. She died on 21 September 1975 in Dauphin Co., PA, at age 69.
