Company E under other regimental units, traveled 275 miles by rail from Lexington on May 25, arriving at Camp George H. Thomas, Georgia, on May 26th. Company E traveled by rail from Camp George H. Thomas, Georgia on September 12 to Camp Hamilton, Lexington, KY, arriving September 13th. Troops were granted a 30 day regimental furlough, per General Order 130, dated September 18th. The unit was recalled to Camp Corbin, Lexington, KY on October 18, remaining there until the Second Regiment was mustered out of federal service on October 31, 1898.
