Addiline " 4 f TX. Company M, 1st Texas Infantry, was organnized at Sumpter, Trinity County, TX in 1862. The company left Trinity County 5 May 1862 and headed for Richmond, VA., where it was attached to Hood's Brigade and sent to Camp Lee for training. It participated in the second battle of Manasas (30 August 1862) and at the battle of Anteitam where E.B. Eaves was wounded on 17 September 1862. The company was heavily involved in the Tennessee-Georgia campaign, also participated in the battles at Gettysburg (2 July 1863) Chickamauga (19-20 Sept. 1863) and the Wilderness (6 May 1864).

As the company was facing a Unuion Army skirmish line at Fort Gilmer near Richmond on 21 Sept 1863, "EBB" Eaves was killed by a sniper's bullet. Ebenezer B. Eaves (CW) died on 21 September 1864 in Fort Gilmer, Richmond, Richmond Co., VA, Killed by a sniper.

Edna Brown Eaves was born 23 Aug 1908 in Limestone County, AL. She was the daughter of George William Eaves, born 14 Jul 1873-died 23 Jun 1955, and his second wife Rosa Virginia Drake (17 Feb 1877- Nov 1962). Edna was the granddaughter of William Calvin Eaves (5 Sep 1848-6 Dec 1920) and Sarah Catherine Moore (3 Jul 1854-30 Nov 1918). Her father and her grandparents were born in Limestone County, Alabama.
Edna received a B.S. Degree from Athens, Qff College; a Masters Degree of Religious, Education From South- Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY; a Masters Degree in Library Science from Peabody Library School , Nashville, TN.

Edna taught home economics in Tanner, Alabama; worked in church related positions; and has served in libraries since 1950, most of the time in Baptist Colleges. She worked in the Howard College Library; was librarian at Mars Hill College, North Carolina and was the first librarian of Mobile College. She was an assistant librarian in the Furman University Library, Greenville, SC for ten years, when she retired in 1973 and moved to Cullman, AL. She has been a resident of Huntsville, Alabama since 1992.

Missions and genealogy have been her main interest. She was especially interested in researching the Eaves, Drake, Stroud, Moore, and Clem families. She indexed the 1820 Alabama census, and has a manuscript for children's book.

Edna was a member of the First Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama; Delta Kappa Gamma; Retired Teachers; Genealogical Society; and was past Regent of the Dripping Springs Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

Edna had two half sisters, Bessie and A.Z. Eaves. Their mother was Rebecca J. Thornton. Bessie married Howard Y. Douthit 12 April 1914, and A.Z. married Harvey Leslie Douthit. Harvey and Howard were brothers, sons of Marcell Y. Douthit and Addie B. George.

Edna died Friday 26 Dec 1997 in Huntsville at the age of 89 and was buried in the Gatlin Cemetery in Limestone County, AL. Genealogical Records of Betty Z. Douthit
