Ella Henry Eaves died on June 11, 1895, shortly after the birth of this little infant daughter. Ella was buried in the Thompson Creek Cemetery. "According to Roy Miller, his uncle Jim was devastated by the death of his wife on June 11 and of his father (WB Eaves) on June 21. He found it extremely hard raising his two sons, ages 7 and 2. So, he decided to go to Tolar to see his sister, Annie Miller, and ask her help in raising his youngest son, Willie, who was one year younger than her youngest child, Bae." (Rose M. Price)

On January 26, 1898, James married Sarah E. Mills. James and Sarah had one daughter together, Vivian Mary Eaves; then Sarah died on June 5, 1902.
